Facial thread veins, also known as telangiectasia, are tiny, dilated blood vessels that become visible close to the surface of the skin.
They may appear as fine individual lines, small branches or clusters of redness. They are particularly common around:
The sides of the nose
The nostrils
The cheeks
The chin
Selected areas of the upper face
They are generally harmless, but many people choose to have them treated because they become more noticeable over time or make the complexion appear persistently red or uneven.
Thread veins may be associated with sun exposure, ageing, genetics, skin trauma or redness-prone conditions such as rosacea. Understanding what is causing the redness is an important part of choosing the right treatment.

Thermolysis is particularly suited to individual, clearly visible thread veins. It is not necessarily the most appropriate treatment for widespread redness, frequent flushing or active rosacea.

How Does It Work?
How facial thread-vein treatment works...
Thermolysis uses a very fine probe and controlled high-frequency energy to target the visible vessel with precision.
The probe is placed along the vessel and a series of brief pulses is delivered. This seals the vessel so that blood no longer flows through it. The treated vessel then gradually becomes less visible as the body reabsorbs the vessels and the skin heals.

The skin is prepped and cleaned and appropriate size sterile probe is selected. Along with the correct treatment setting for the vein size and to achieve an effective treatment result.
The Sterile probe is used to work along the vessel inducing heat that bonds the vessel wall together. The blood supply is cut off and the vessels withers and is reabsorbed by the body

What should I Expect
After Treatment?
Immediately following treatment, the area may look red and feel warm or slightly sensitive.
. Mild localised swelling can also occur, particularly around delicate areas such as the nose.
Small crusts or dry points may develop along the treated vessel. These are part of the normal healing response and must be allowed to come away naturally.
Most people can return to their usual routine, but the skin will need to be treated gently while it heals. You may be advised to temporarily avoid:
Picking, rubbing or exfoliating the area
Strong active skincare products
Excessive heat and steam
Strenuous exercise
Swimming
Sun exposure
Applying make-up too soon after treatment

How Many Treatments
Will I Need?
There is no single answer because thread veins vary in size, depth, location and density.
Some small vessels may show a significant improvement after one treatment. Larger vessels, extensive networks or areas that refill from neighbouring vessels may need a course of appointments.
Treatment cannot prevent new thread veins from developing in the future. Sun exposure, skin sensitivity, rosacea, genetics and other contributing factors may continue to influence the skin.

Does thread-vein removal hurt?
You may feel brief sensations of heat, tingling or pinpricks as each pulse is delivered. Sensitivity varies according to the treatment area and the individual, but appointments are kept focused and manageable.
Will the vein disappear immediately?
Some vessels appear to disappear or become noticeably lighter during treatment. Others look darker initially or fade gradually as the skin heals. The immediate appearance is not always the final result.
Will one treatment be enough?
A small, isolated vessel may respond to one treatment, but multiple or more established vessels can require further appointments. It is important to allow the area to heal before assessing the result.
Can you treat redness caused by rosacea?
Thermolysis can target certain individual vessels associated with rosacea, but it does not cure rosacea or necessarily treat widespread background redness. Your skin must be assessed to determine whether this is the right treatment for your concern.
Can facial thread veins return?
Once a vessel has been successfully treated, the improvement may be long-lasting. However, the factors that contributed to its development may remain, and new vessels can appear elsewhere.
Is there any downtime?
There is usually minimal disruption to normal activities, but visible redness, mild swelling, dryness or tiny crusts can occur. You should consider this when arranging treatment before an important occasion.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
You will be given specific guidance following treatment. Make-up should not be applied until the skin is sufficiently settled and any tiny treatment points have closed.
Are there any reasons I may not be suitable?
Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided because of certain medical conditions, medications, electrical implants, pregnancy, impaired healing, active skin problems or other contraindications. These will be discussed confidentially during your consultation.
How Long until I will see results?
This varies from person to person. Factors such as your skins ability to heal, general health and severity of condition all affect the amount of time ti takes to see the ens result from your treatment. the treatment process takes time and relies on your bodies own ability to heal and repair to achieve the end result. The initial healing phase which is superficial takes 7-14 days however there is a further 6-12 weeks of healing that takes place in the deeper layers of your skin so the results cannot be judged for at least 8-12 weeks. Patience is needed, but the wait is worth it for long term results.
